Driving in Daviess County

As the largest county in Western Kentucky and home of the regional medical center and institutions such as Western Kentucky University, there is heavy traffic on Daviess County roadways, and that means a lot of accidents – over 1,200 resulting in injury the past two years alone, including 23 accidents resulting in fatalities. Arguably, the most dangerous road in the county is Frederica Street in Owensboro, which has seen an incredible 165 accidents resulting in injury the past two years. US 60 between US 231 and KY 334 has had several accidents as well, including three resulting in at least one fatality.

Dangerous Owensboro intersections – site of multiple accidents resulting in injury or death – include:

  • E 4th Street and Frederica St
  • W 5th Street and Frederica St
  • E 4th Street and JR Miller Blvd
  • E 4th Street and Triplett Street
  • E 3rd Street and Triplett Street
  • E 4th Street and Leitchfield Road
  • E Parris Ave and Triplett Street
  • E 18th Street and Triplett Street
  • E 18th Street and JR Miller Blvd
  • Frederica Street between W 17th and W 18th Street
  • New Hartford Road and US 60

Residents of Daviess County also need to take caution and exercise safe driving on these dangerous stretches of road:

  • E Parrish Ave/Leitchfield Road between Byers Ave and Ralph Ave
  • US 60 between the I-165 interchange and KY 603
  • Frederica St between KY 81 and Theater Drive
  • KY 54 near the Kentucky Motor Speedway
  • US 231 between Owensboro and Masonville
  • US 60 north of Maceo

What causes so many accidents? Despite efforts by automotive companies to make their vehicles more hands-free compatible with mobile devices, distracted driving continues to increase as a factor in these incidents, as does speeding, disregarding traffic signals and signs and DUI/DWI drivers.

As the largest law firm in Owensboro, Rhoads & Rhoads has experienced personal injury attorneys who are happy to help if you are injured in an automobile accident. Remember, you pay nothing until we win for you. If you or a loved one has been injured or killed as the result of an accident, give our law office a call to learn what we can do for you.
