Experienced Personal Injury Lawyers Serving Caldwell County

“Attorney Chris Rhoads and his assistant, Donna, were an absolute pleasure to work with. I can’t put into words how much comfort and relief they brought to me in the midst of what many would consider a stressful situation. Such professional, kind, respectful, knowledgeable staff who went above and beyond to get results. There is no other law firm nor personal injury attorney I would recommend. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Rhoads and Rhoads!”

Living in Caldwell County

Caldwell County, Kentucky found itself in the national spotlight briefly in August 2017, when county seat Princeton is identified as an area where the first total solar eclipse visible in the United States in 99 years could be seen for the longest amount of time. On August 21, visitors flocked to the area to experience the total darkness for nearly three minutes. They also found themselves charmed by the area and the people living here.

Caldwell County is a great place to raise a family, with easy drives to several large cities as well as to universities such as Murray State and Austin Peay, in addition to the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton, part of UK’s College of Agriculture.

Rhoads and Rhoads has a long history with Caldwell County, having started the practice with our office in nearby Madisonville in 1974.

Driving in Caldwell County

With the Western Kentucky Parkway running through the county and its location between Paducah, Hopkinsville, and Madisonville, a lot of vehicles travel through Caldwell County relative to its population. Over the past three years, about 250 vehicular accidents resulting in injury occurred in Caldwell County, including three accidents resulting in fatalities. As home to half the county population, it is no surprise that Princeton sees the lion’s share of the accidents.

Particularly troublesome accident spots include the following:

  • US Hwy 62 between Medical Center Drive and West Main Street (10 injury accidents)
  • Intersection of West Legion Drive and South Jefferson (5 injury accidents)
  • Intersection of Main Street and South Jefferson (4 injury accidents)
  • Intersection of West Main Street and North Darby (4 injury accidents)
  • US Hwy 62 between Walmart and Bay Valley Foods (4 injury accidents)

Wreck-prone stretches of road outside of Princeton include:

  • Marion Road between KY 70 and Farmersville Road (16 accidents)
  • Intersection of Western Kentucky Parkway and North Jefferson (7 injury accidents)
  • East Legion Drive/Cadiz Road south of the VFW Park (5 injury accidents)
  • Cassidy Avenue leading south out of Fredonia (four injury accidents)
  • Marion Road leading north out of Fredonia (four injury accidents)

The primary causes of automobile accidents in Caldwell County mirror the causes found throughout the country – distracted driving, speeding, DUI/DWI, driving too fast for the road conditions, and failure to comply with traffic signals and signs. Some accidents can be nearly impossible to avoid. Consider the 40+ collisions vehicles have had with deer in the county in the past three years.

All too often, accidents that could be avoided take place because of the actions or inactions of a driver, resulting in injury and property damage for other drivers. It is important to remember that an accident is just the beginning – if you are injured, you may face a loss of wages, perhaps for a significant period of time as you recover; medical bills, which have skyrocketed in cost in recent years; and pain and suffering, for both the victim(s) and their families.

At Rhoads & Rhoads, we have a great deal of experience representing people injured in auto accidents, helping them to navigate the insurance process as well as ascertaining the possible litigation and potential compensation. Our firm is made up of experienced, successful trial attorneys and knowledgeable support staff. We have earned verdicts and settlements for vehicular accident victims throughout Western Kentucky, including recent awards of $3.7 million, $2.75 million and $2 million.

In addition to truck accidents and motor vehicle accidents, Rhoads & Rhoads offers experienced, expert legal counsel in the areas of brain injury, product liability, nursing home negligence, premises liability, Social Security disability,  construction and industrial accidents,  medical malpractice and wrongful death.
